Good stay but a few areas could improve.
Lovely location. Helpful, friendly staff, clean spaces and great spa treatments. Could improve in a couple of areas to move from good to great : Room was booked for 3 sharing but only set up for 2 in terms of cups, towels etc Food at dinner was ok but did not wow - eg Stilton panna cotta no discernible Stilton taste, burger very dry, coleslaw salad not fresh.
Great customer service
Great service from Daniel Cook on the bar!
Exceptional value for money
We came for a couple of days golf and had another great experience here in Slaley Hall. We arrived early but the very friendly and efficient Hannah on reception arranged a room for us. All the staff are helpful, the rooms comfortable and spa pool really pleasant. We had a great evening meal and generous piping hot breakfast. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Lovely place
Lovely place, beautiful scenery, Lani was very good, lovely personality and great behind the bar.
Very relaxed
Stayed here for my husbands 30th birthday, did the spa break. We had a wonderful time and have never felt so relaxed. We upgraded to a junior suite which was just incredible, very clean with very good extras We ate dinner in the main restaurant and received fantastic service from Matthew, he was incredibly friendly and helpful and just made us feel so welcome, just wanted to give a special thanks to Matthew for making the stay even more enjoyable. We also wanted give a thank you to Neive who brought our food out, she was incredibly sweet and helpful Thank you to all of the staff for a wonderful stay and amazing treatment, we will definitely be back
Birthday treat
Lovely little get away for my summers birthday. Donna and Lorna our therapists were great, very professional and good at their jobs. Special shout out to Marcus, front of house manager, he went above and beyond , he swapped our room as he wasn't happy with it for us. And he was so accommodating and a real gem . Such a nice guy
Excellent service and dinner
Huge thanks to Matthew at the Slaley Hall restaurant. He moved us to a better table without any fuss, gave great recommendations, and was so friendly and attentive even though it was busy. He really made our evening. Food was excellent. We were also served by Katie in the bar, who was fantastic and very welcoming. The cocktails were lovely, and the scenery made the whole experience even better. Thank you
Spa package
Staying in the hotel for a few days and took the opportunity to make the most of a spa package. Both treatments chosen were lovely and Georgina was great. Georgina ensured I was comfortable and I left feeling totally relaxed and chilled after the previous two days that were filled with lots of walking.
Great food
Had a lovely time and delicious meal in restaurant. Our waiter Matthew was excellent.
Weekend break
Lovely relaxing break ,food on first night was lovely, served and looked after by Tony and Matthew. Very helpful. Food at bar on second night wasnt the best ,pizza and fries ,barely warm, weren't given plates ir cutlery ,seemed very busy serving a large booked reserved table to havectime to serve anyone else . Otherwise staff attentive around hotel and pool area .
Birthday celebrations
Stayed at Slayley Hall last weekend for my birthday we had a wonderful time. Our room was amazing with a lovely view of the golf course. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was excellent considering how busy they were. A special shout out to Samuel who served us for dinner on the Friday night 1st May he was attentive and made the night feel very special. All the bar staff were great too. Overall a lovely 2 days at an excellent hotel.
Great R 'n' R stay
Had a lovely stay at Slayley Hall, a very nice place to relax and unwind. Good food in the main restaurant, although a bit over priced...but everything is these days!! Had a great waiter called Mentior - very kind and attentive throughout our time there. Would definitely come back again
21st Birthday Stay
Amazing atmosphere, very relaxing. The staff are incredible. My partner and I both had treatments and thought they were amazing. Chloe was my therapist and I thought she was very friendly and ensured I was comfortable at all times. The food was delightful. Would definitely recommend.
Great Service James
James was excellent at looking after us in the restaurant. Top service, thx James
Bar review
In the hotel bar our bartender was Max, drinks where incredible Guinness was one of the best I've ever had and the whiskey selection is top tier. Thanks to Max we really enjoyed our drinks and time here
Spa overnight stay
Lovely location, spa access great. Evening dinner had great service very professional, server Sam McBride. Would book again.
Restaurant
Lovely food and staff Sam C really helped with the choice of wine and made our experience really enjoyable will be back soon.
Good but with problems
Had a great time but. Pros Courses were very well maintained, Preistman had a lot of shots that were blind, Hunting superb. Definetly worth paying the extra on the Hunting. All staff were extremely helpful so 10/10 for them. Rooms were very clean and large, cleaners did a great job. Sky sports available in Claret Bar. Breakast was superb, the buffet style was always hot with a great selection. Cons The food was overpriced for the quantity given, why we accept such small portians for the price i will never know. On saying that the food was good. The bar prices for alcohol was over priced, £7.19 for a pint of Guiness was ridiculus and, although lager was cheaper, it was still overpriced. Biggest Con Evening meal, the two type of cheese selection was a total rip off and totally spoilt my stay. Two tiny pieces of cheese, two Jacob brown crackers from a packet and three-four Cheddar cheese biscuits from out of a packet. Now for £9-£10 for this i would expect at least homemade biscuits not something i could have bought from a corner shop or at least the price to reflect what was on the plate. So on the stay enjoyable except for the cons above.
A Return to Slaley
Been to Slaley a few times and several things to note. Last time there I mentioned the lack of glasses in the room and the room windows were letting in wind. This time round, glasses were in the room and the windows seem to have been recently resealed. Nothing to do with me I’m sure! The room was comfortable and the view over the golf courses was very pleasant. I mentioned last time that the Priestman course was in good condition: this has continued. We dined in Hadrian’s and Matthew served us very well. Very friendly and prompt with service. Food, on the whole was good. My pork belly was a bit small (three Oxo cube-sized bits) overpowered (imho) by kimchi. Also my cheese board was a bit modest. It’s the first time I’ve had more crackers than cheese! My pie on night one and my wife and my fish and chips later on were excellent. Breakfast was good (maybe a bit of black pudding??) Two out of three days there was no fruit in the bowl. My wife likes fruit with yoghurt and there was none. However I did point out that she did not enquire about getting the bowl refilled. On the other hand staff should be monitoring this. A no score draw there. Overall we enjoyed our stay. None of the negatives had an adverse effect on our stay and we will probably return.
Great golf weekend- apart from the weather
Came for a golf weekend, courses were good and the golf bar is great. Lucas sorted us out both nights and made sure we had the Scottish football on. Well looked after.
