Top quality.
Beautiful location in Northumberland. Very professional atmosphere with outstanding staff, who couldn't do enough to assist. The rooms were very good and everything worked properly. The dining was very good with sensibly priced, well presented food.it has been a very good break.
Take care of the minor items
We opted for a Junior Suite and found the accommodation very comfortable. There was a couple of maintenance issues with the room that looked to be outstanding for some time and this was reported to reception on our departure. We trust that these have been attended to by now. One other housekeeping issue was the corridor outside the room had not been cleaned throughout our stay. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant and the choice provided. The restaurant staff were particularly efficient and friendly. The small lounge areas were comfortable and such that we could relax. I consider that this is a fair assessment of the accommodation and staff. My final comment for management would be ~ you have a very good business take action with the minor niggling details and provide complete customer satisfaction.
Definitely worth another visit 😁
We stayed two nights in the middle of May in the Langley suite. It was very spacious with lovely views. The bathroom was lovely, the bedroom was comfortable although the small net curtain on the left hand side window the bed was torn and there were cobwebs on the other window. The lounge was a great size but let down by the sofa and chairs which looked like they had better days, especially compared to the beautiful furnishings in the guest lounges. Our meal in the restaurant was really enjoyable, terrific staff, especially Matthew who was so helpful. We ate in the golf bar on the second night which again was really enjoyable. We would definitely go back as we didn't have time to try the Spa, my husband really enjoyed the golf course and all the staff there including the golf shop were lovely.
Relaxing, calm and beautiful.
Hotel is beautiful and the location is stunning, the trails to walk on around the grounds are lovely, I loved the spa and the restaurants, staff are very helpful and friendly, rooms are clean and spacious. I would definitely visit again.
2 night spa break
Two night spa break with dinner on both nights. Booked room 355. Great room let down by the noisy air con from the spa which was 24/7 and some very old net curtains (falling apart). The staff, spa and food were very good. Couldn't believe how many cars were on site and finding a parking space wasn't easy. I assume this was due to a golf completion on fir the duration of of our stay. We would definitely return but would avoid 355. Jamie in the restaurant was very competent and a credit to the hotel.
A brilliant break in a lovely area of Northumberland
A first class location in quiet surroundings. The room was quite big and very comfortable. The breakfasts and evening meals were first class. This was our third stay at the hotel.
Excellent stay
A wonderful 1 night stay, the hotel was excellent, the food was really good. I used the gym and the spa both were really great. The staff were very hardworking, cheerful and helpful. Cleanliness was very good, rooms comfortable. I would definitely recommend.
Relaxing stay
Lovely setting, helpful staff, clean and spacious. There was a delay in a couple of room issues being resolved but the front of house manager sought us out to apologise for this. Really enjoyed using the swimming pool which was long enough to get a reasonable swim. It was unfortunate that there was scaffolding outside all our windows, I was puzzled that the hotel chose the height of the season to do the building works, might have been preferable to do at low season. Breakfast buffet variable, things ran out, delay in order of poached egg arriving and buffet food was not hot.
Relaxing stay
Overall, this venue is very good. We stayed for a 2 night spa break mid week. One person that should receive a huge thank you was Donna from the Spa. In all my years I cannot remember the last time that i had such a good massage treatment. I felt completely relaxed and slightly dehydrated after the session. Donna, you receive a 11/10 review. Having read previous reviews, we were pleased to see that there were no children around in the pool area. The food menu choices in 2 of the restaurants were adequate, although there could have been a wider range of choices available. Lastly, thank you to Marcus who greeted us upon arrival, a true gentleman and a great ambassador for this venue. The only point that prevented us giving a 5 star review was that the mattress was rock hard.
Pleasant stay
Stayed at Slaley for one night to attend nearby wedding. We were made welcome by Marcus on reception, and found other staff very friendly .hotel is quite impressive set in the countryside not far from Hexham and Corbridge. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choice. Didn’t try the facilities as only there one night. I think though hotel is a little dated and could do with cheering up, but wouldn’t be put off by that.
Great customer service
The customer service was wonderful throughout. Morgan was a great host for the event on the terrace on Friday 12th June. He was attentive, always on hand and happy to help. A great asset to the team.
A very enjoyable stay
Enjoyed a four night stay in the Ladywell suite, which is a lovely room with one of the best views in the hotel. It has all the facilities you want in a hotel room. All the staff are friendly and helpful especially Matthew in the restaurant who remembered us from last year. Breakfast was excellent every day. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and the bar on one evening. Mostly the food was good in the restaurant but didn't like the soft shell crab starter. The salmon main course that my husband had one one night was dry but Matthew sorted this out to our satisfaction.
Excellent
Plush hotel in vast grounds. Very beautiful (despite the inauthentic neo-Gothic scaffolding appended to some areas being refurbished). Food is of excellent quality reflecting the superbly talented and well-drilled kitchen squad. Front of house waiterage is of high quality too. Subtle and considerate. Evidence of welcome depth of staff training and execution. Thanks all. My only quibble is the food courses in the restaurant are delivered in rather long time intervals which may suit an all-evening family gathering or date night but not necessarily those who wish for a quick in-and-out meal experience. Bar staff were friendly and well-motivated. Good bit of banter too. Good sound insulation in rooms. Bed, duvet and long pillow was superb. Possibly my favourite hotel bed ever, like being enveloped in a firm cloud. Perfect. And a fridge in the room too, a rare treat. I was very happy to stay here and very much looked forward to returning to my room after a hard day touristing.
An excellent Golf package.
I took my son on a Golf package as a present for a 16th birthday. We played both golf courses which were immaculate the golfing staff were very helpful and I would really recommend this to anyone. The room was a feature twin which had good views of the golf course and was clean and comfortable. We booked a table at the bistro and as part of the deal, we got £35 each towards food. We both ordered a Medium rare fillet steak Which was not cheap £42. When they both arrived They were blue if not raw. We pointed this out to the waiter who took them back to the kitchen. They came back after 10 minutes and we’re cooked to the right degree however because I had cut into my stick and it had been put back on the grill it was not correctly rested and was a lot tougher than it should’ve been, and it bled in the plate, it did, however taste okay, and I hate it as I did not want to send it back again. I did let my disappointment known to the waiter who called the manager who came for a chat and was only apologetic. To be honest, I expect better when you’re paying such a high price for a good piece of meat.
Great hotel and Spa
Fantastic location, lovely room and views. Fabulous Spa and Spa area. Wonderful views and setting. Great bar area and service and lovely small lounge areas to sit and relax. Lovely area outside for drinks and to admire the views The only small criticism is the restaurant. The service was "very slow" and there was no restaurant manager so the staff were stood around waiting to serve, but not clearing the 15-20 tables that needed clearing around us ( didn't look that great!) - they were very polite but just needed some direction. The food was lovely.😀
Hidden gem
The location of Slaley Hall is fantastic and is very peaceful. We have been to Slaley Hall before so we knew the how amazing the golf course and dinning are at this hotel. Both golf courses are well maintained and a joy to play. The rooms are clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. The dining room is very pleasant and you are able to have a conversation without hearing too much noise from other diners. The food is very tasty and our wait staff member Ana help me to decide on my main meal when asked about a particular dish. I would definitely recommend this hotel
Stunning hotel
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The room was good for the price with a fridge which really pleased us. The bar is a lovely place with impeccable service throughout our stay, possibly the reason we re-visited as the service was amazing last time too. The reception staff were also very professional and lovely and a special shout out to Marcus who was very engaging and entertaining on check in. My only slight disappointment was the breakfast service which needs some attention as we were left waiting a few times for someone to show up to greet us and customers needed to ask for food to be replaced which had run out. I enjoyed the stay and would definitely visit again.
Father’s Day treat
Had a lovely stay here but just a few little attention to detail issues that could have made it perfect. The £45 payment for charging the car was refunded twice as it wouldn’t work so if you were relying on charging your car you’d be stuck as charger would not work. Told reception and they just say it’s a third party which is generally the case. However, out of order signs might prevent customers from wasting their time! Got the breakfast and dinner package. When we sat down to dinner the waitress told us that the children could have the full 3 course children’s menu included (when we went to pay our bill the next day, we were then told that the children are not included in the meal so all had to be paid for) was told it’s £35 per person (then told when paying that this does not include your drink). Then everything we ordered had something missing because they didn’t have it (the cheese from the children’s pasta, the curry sauce for the fish and chips, the passion fruit martini for the passion fruit martini). The most disappointing missing item was the bacon from breakfast. I just think these things are easily rectified. If you run out of bacon, just go and buy some. Breakfast lasted for another 1.5 hours after our arrival so running out was a terrible excuse! Also had 3 coffee machines but only one worked yet no signage to say the other 2 were broken so lots of people struggling with them before then joining the back of the queue for the one working coffee machine! Again, just an out of order sign would help! Never the less we had a lovely stay but just think these small issues could be very easily prevented if staff had better training and were able to use their initiative.
Wonderful escape
Set in beautiful countryside, a gem of a hotel with lovely public areas and a good restaurant. all very clean and well presented.
Amazing Spa Day !
Had a great Spa Day at Slaley Hall. Visited last week and thoroughly enjoyed our day out. The hall and surroundings is lovely. I had a facial and a neck and shoulder massage. My therapist was Donna who was excellent ! My skin felt amazing following the treatment and she was very attentive to my needs.
