Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

Weekend break in great surroundings
Just home from a great weekend. First visit here, but won't be the last. Lovely building in a wonderful surrounding. Food was very good, service perfect. Our room was a good size, with everything we needed in it. Alexis did a good job. All the staff were cheery and friendly. With a special mention for Sam McBride in the restaurant, and Jamie, Morgan, Kate and Emma for looking after us so well in the bar.
Amazing
We had a lovely relaxing night at Slaley. Amazing massage and beautiful food. Jamie looked after us in the restaurant and he was very kind and helpful.
Lovely place to stay
We booked through Groupon; a two night stay in a double classic room which included dinner on the first night and breakfast both mornings, late checkout and also use of the spa facilities. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is gorgeous and set in lovely grounds, it has a lot to offer and we enjoyed being able to watch the rugby in the sports lounge. The room was nice; spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The quality of food in the restaurant was very good and we felt the deal we got was good value for money. In addition we ordered an afternoon tea and were offered this at a discount as part of the reservation for £30 each as opposed to £35 each. We found this disappointing and not good value for money. The cakes and scones did not look homemade and it all felt quite basic. The spa facilities were nice but could do with a bigger jacuzzi or an additional jacuzzi as there is only one and it is very small, we also thought it was unusual not to have a shower to use after using the sauna.
Great spa day
Had a great day here! Amazing spa treatment from Robyn and Tom who served us lunch in the restaurant was very helpful and looked after us well.
Friendly service
I’d love to share a review about a specific member of staff rather than the hotel itself. We had the pleasure of being served dinner two nights in a row by Janice while celebrating my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, and she truly made our stay extra special. She was so warm, personable and couldn’t do enough for us. She helped us organise a surprise cake for my parents, which meant so much, and she was incredibly accommodating with our fussy toddlers — even checking with the chef about a few off-menu requests. It’s people like Janice who really make an experience memorable. We’re so grateful for her kindness and attention.
Short break
Just had a short break here. Check in (Sunday) very busy so sat back and waited for the queue to die down. Check in very efficient and less than 5 mins later we’re on our way to our room. Had prebooked restaurant as from past experience early tables get snapped up quickly. Staff in the restaurant very friendly and efficient, especially Lily, who was attentive throughout. Bit disappointed with the spa. Went early morning and the hot tub had what looked like sludge in the bottom. When I pointed it out to the receptionist she said they knew and were waiting for us to get out. Sorry, if there’s foreign bodies in there it should be cleaned before letting anyone in (they said it was sand, believe me, I’ve never seen sand like that, ever). That aside it was a very relaxing break.
Lovely spa day and lunch
Lovey spa afternoon and lunch served by the wonderful Tom who really looked after us and made our dining experience extra special
The Hadrian’s Brasserie restaurant in Slaley Hall
The staff in Hadrian’s Brasserie is very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu, the waiter called Lewis Walls was especially diligent to go the extra mile and tend for our requests, and the food was beautiful. Great work Slaley Hall, keep it up! 👍

Overall a Lovely Stay
We stayed as part of a overnight package which included a standard room, £35/person towards our meal (excluding drinks), breakfast, spa access and a 25 minute treatment. There were many positves: - Staff were extrememly polite and friendly throughout. - Spa treatments were relaxing and exactly as we hoped. - The relaxation room was calm and tranquil. - Our room was spacious and clean. - Breakfast was superb - lots or choice. - Food at the restaurant was delicious and high quality. The service was also excellent. Charlie C, took good care of us and made sure he regulalry checked in at our table. - Beautiful grounds and building. Be aware: Outside of the treatment rooms, the spa facilities are essentially a pool area with the addition of a small sauna and steam room and jacuzzi. As access is available to children / the public, rather than just spa guests, it had more of a hotel pool feel which may not be what some people would expect if looking for a tranquil spa experience. Somewhere to relax was harder to find due to the good old Brit abroad tactics of claiming loungers with a towel - we had to settle for a seat at the side. Non of this, impacted our visit, but I can understand that for some, it would.
Getting Married at Slaley Hall
My wife Gloria & I just wanted to say a HUGE! Thank you to our wedding organiser and manager at Slaley - Beth & Bethan, they were so supportive and really great at helping to plan and organise everything! Also a shout out to all of the staff: House keeping, Bar, Restaurant, Spa & last but absolutely not least Reception, we are so grateful for all the effort and help! The Kitchen also deserves so much praise, I never had a bite of food the whole time over multiple days that I didn’t find absolutely delicious! Everyone was so wonderful and happy and we had such an amazing day, we will be remembering it for the rest of our lives and that is thanks to everyone at Slaley Hall!  We look forward to coming back every year for a good long spa trip for our anniversaries!
