Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.   Â

Good stay overall
Lovely room and hotel. Breakfast was good with lovely staff. The Claret Jug food and coffee need to be improved as felt it was poor and overpriced. The pool didn't feel that it was big enough to manage the numbers of people staying.
Fantastic stay and meal
I took my daughter for an overnight stay for her 7th birthday. We enjoyed the lovely pool and a fabulous meal at the restaurant. Matthew was our server and he was amazing. Really made our evening.
OK if you like golf, Avoid if you don't.
A good location especially if you want to play golf. The attempt to create the ambience of a stately home in the modern building fails and makes things dark an oppresive. The room rates are high for what is offered. What makes this hotel is the freindly staff especially in the restaurant. I woould have thought there would be a benefit to having some sort of smart casual dress code for dinner as some guests dressed like they had just got off a building site.
Great value Wowcher deal
Stayed on the Wowcher deal which was really good value. We enjoyed our evening meal and received brilliant service from our waiter Samuel McBride. All the staff work hard and the grounds are lovely. Would come back on a similar deal.
very familiar friendly
Beautiful location, lovely room. What impressed me most was the staff! Friendly, accommodating, and cheerfully understanding of my small children's chaos! 10/10, will recommend. Karol was our waiter on the last day- great!
Fancy without the presence
We had a lovely stay. The room was very spacious and had incredible views of the golf course. The meal was delicious and service impeccable, thanks to our server Sam M! He was very accommodating and friendly to our 7 month old baby. We were apprehensive about dining in the restaurant with our little boy but all the staff were polite and professional, and it had a relaxed atmosphere despite how posh the food was. Perfect for us as a family. The spa is also worth a visit!
Teesside ladies golf trip
Following on from my previous review in June I am pleased to say that the rooms we were allocated were much improved. The golf was good yet challenging. The restaurant was pleasant with friendly staff and good food. The Reception staff were professional however it would be helpful if there were two staff present at busy times. All in all a very enjoyable 2 days
Hadrian's Brasserie
Just finished a lovely dinner at Hadrian's Brasserie, excellent food and the service by Lidya and Daniel was first rate. Thank you for a super evening.
Another great anniversary visit
We got married at Slaley 15 years ago and return each year for our anniversary. The venue continues to be excellent and whilst we had a few minor ‘issues’ last year that could be associated with any hotel, the management dealt with them very well and we’ve been more than happy to return. Room and service excellent, and our appreciation for the little things the hotel does to make our anniversary feel special. Particular shout out to our hostess Louise who welcomed us for our Friday Dinner on the 21st. Thoroughly lovely and delightful young lady, fantastic service!
Great stay
Superb stay , room very clean and comfy. Check in very efficient and friendly . Food excellent better than a Michelin place we go to . Waiters excellent helpful . Thanks to all staff excellent location
Review
Nice location staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel is showing it's age needs updating and decorating. Evening food very poor cold scallops (frozen one's).Steak tough not cooked at right temperature. Menu needs something done to it, for a 4 star hotel its very basic.
Great
Enjoyed a lovely evening meal here , with amazing service from Jamie R whom made our experience far more pleasant đŸ˜„
1 night stay with meal
Had a night stay and had an exceptional meal with excellent service from waiter Jamie R.
Big thanks to the manager
Excellent value, breakfast was great. They initially hit us with a problem with our rooms, however the manager made up for the issue and in the end the stay was excellent and our 2 year old grandson had a great time. Big thanks to the manager
Lovely overnight stay, again!
This was our 3rd time at Slaley Hall and we had a lovely time as always. The building is beautiful and the inside feels very much like a stately home from times gone by. The food was very good, we had dinner included and the buffet breakfast was amazing. Not often you get fried bread anywhere nowadays. Best sausages too! We didn't use the spa facilities so can't comment on them. Staff were polite and friendly. The room was large and had everything you needed and the bed was very comfy. My only negative comment would be that I think certain areas need some TLC which may put some people off from going back. Walking to our room (236), a lot of the room doors are very scuffed which doesn't create a good first impression. The grouting in the bathroom, especially around the bath really needs to be cleaned or replaced, in places it was black. In the bar area there were a lot of chairs with rips in them which again does not give a good impression. Having said that, we will be back and hopefully these minor issues will have been taken care of.
Overall Good
Very pleasant experience, the reception staff were very helpful as were the whole team we encountered. We took our large dog with us and he was well catered for too. The only negative we could think of was the amount of children who had access to the pool from 7-10 am preventing a more quiet place in the morning.
Couples Break
Excellent stay. William in the restaurant gave great service.
Short break
Beautiful location. Good sized clean, comfortable room. Appreciated the blackout curtains. Food in the bar average and expensive though drinks very reasonably priced. Didn't use the spa facilities. We would stay again.
Dinner
Jamie R was fantastic. Excellent service
Another lovely stay
Lovely hotel. Been a couple of times before. Speedy check in although paid for the room to be ready early and had to wait about 15/20 mins. Had dinner in the main restaurant. William was looking after us. He was lovely nothing was a problem. Very polite you gentleman. We will be back.
