Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Course information

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

Set on higher ground, this Neil Coles designed golf course gives panoramic views of the Tyne Valley and beyond.

Wind can be a factor on this 6,901 yard undulating course, criss-crossed by streams. But don't be put off, this is a classic course and suitable for all levels of golfer.

Great hotel and golf courses with room for improvement

Lovely location with fantastic views. Great golf courses. Bit of detractor being the extremely poorly maintained bunkers. Well below the quality of the courses themselves . Restaurant and food and bar very good. Karol provided excellent, friendly service. General decor is very grand but some areas and furniture is in poor condition given the status of the venue.

Fantastic stay!

Beautiful location, fab facilities! The room was a very generous size with two bathrooms. The staff were incredibly friendly and really helpful. Food was ok, pricey for the quality of the evening meal. Daniel Cook was our waiter, he was fantastic! Would absolutely recommend for a family getaway. The pool is really great for kids, a slide with rock pool features make it a great place to explore! We would definitely do it again. Thanks!

Lovely stay peaceful and relaxing

Great stay following a lesser stay back in November 2025 Nice room and outlook Food within the hotel was good and of quality served by helpful staff such as Charlie on both nights saving to have to go out elsewhere and attention to dietary requirements. Nice walks around the grounds and nice spa facilities. All staff helpful and nothing too much of a problem

Morgan Buzzeo

Direct compliment to Morgan Buzzeo. As a long standing member of the golf club, it is often overlooked how important the front of house team are. It is what makes the day when bringing visitors to the club and fills us full of pride when the service matches the quality of the course. On far too many occasions across the last 2/3 years, the front of house service in the bar and upstairs has been well below par, and frankly embarrassing when bringing guests. I hope that management take this compliment seriously, as Morgan is a true asset to the club and the rest of the staff can follow suit / recruit better!

Prosecco Lunch Spa Day

Great experience! We went for a Prosecco lunch spa day and really enjoyed it. The pool and sauna were very relaxing and the lunch was lovely. Matthew offered great service and made us feel so comfortable.

Lovely time with my grandaughter at Slaley spa today . Lovely swim and jacuzzi. Amazing facial from Joanne .Her gentle hands and nimble finger certainly gave a lovely result. Thank you.👌

Yes, every player must have their own set of golf clubs.

Are kids allowed on the golf course?

Yes, children are welcome to play golf on either of our golf courses. However, our pro-shop reserve the right to restrict play depending on the age and skill of the child. An adult may be required to accompany under 16s. Full golf attire is required for any golfer wishing to play the courses.
