Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Course information

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

Set on higher ground, this Neil Coles designed golf course gives panoramic views of the Tyne Valley and beyond.

Wind can be a factor on this 6,901 yard undulating course, criss-crossed by streams. But don't be put off, this is a classic course and suitable for all levels of golfer.

Enjoyed our stay

Lovely stay, comfortable clean room, beautiful surroundings and excellent service throughout, (Samuel deserves a mention for his excellent restaurant service) Overall Great value package stay. Inclusive use of the Spa was nice but the facilities could be improved with a cold plunge pool or ice bath/shower for after sauna/steam room use and also more loungers for busy days. We will definitely book again.

Much improved since my last stay in 2025. New food menus are excellent. Staff very helpful, all places always very clean. A comfortable stay of 7 nights indeed.

2 night 3 rounds of golf

Visited Slaley Hall resort for a 2 night stay and 3 rounds of golf. Staff were brilliant and friendly. Accommodation and facilities were good. Food was excellent, 3 choices of where to eat within the resort. Two top quality golf courses. 10/10 experience.

Relaxing stay.

Lovely relaxing 2 nights break for our 30th wedding Anniversary. All the staff were so friendly and polite, especially like to mention Charlie who served us in the Hadrian Brasserie for our meal on our anniversary, who was very attentive and made sure we were okay during the meal Also a shout out for Mollie who was one of the chambermaids who cleaned our room. Also the spa was lovely and clean. Thank you everyone for the lovely stay.

Already want to book up again!

First night at the Slaley Hall and it has been a lovely evening! We dined at the main restaurant at the hotel and was served by the lovely & polite Matthew who was very attentive, provided us with his recommendations of wines and gave us a little banter too just to make us feel more welcomed at our first time going away as family of 3 (we brought our 12 week old baby with us) a success! Thank you Matthew for making our evening!

Great Break

Absolutely amazing experience. Staff couldn't do enough for us, arrived as a group of 21 to play golf and use Spa Facilities. Highly Recommend. Golf Courses were amazing. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was really good too.

Meeting & Events at Slaley Hall

We have been running training courses at Slaley Hall for 3-years now and this was the best so far. The lovely welcome when checking in, Bobbie and her Team know our company so well, from room set-ups, timings and bedroom requirements (the Ladywell Suite is gorgeous but also loved room 223). Bethan and Lauran were such a huge help for the duration we were there making sure everything ran so smoothly and nothing was a problem. The food was outstanding so a big shout out to the chef, all meals went down a treat but especially our last dinner (Awards Night), I had the beef and it was amazing. I look forward to seeing you all again for 2-weeks in September.

Dinner service

Great overall stay enhanced by the included dining allowance, ambience and service. Lovely food including in my wifes expert opinion the best lasagne ever, and a delcious lamb shank. Fabulous service from a very knowledgeable and helpful young man Matthew. Looking forward to our next visit. Colin and Janet Jackson.

Lovely place

Lovely hotel, great location, rooms are spacious and comfy. Matthew in the restaurant was very polite and friendly and great with any queries regarding allergies.

Fantastic stay

Had a wonderful stay and the food was amazing. Matthew in the Brassiere restaurant looked after us and couldn’t do enough 10 out of 10 for him

Lovely place !

We had a lovely long weekend stay here! Beautiful grounds and spa area. We had an evening meal and were looked after by Mathew who couldn't have been more helpful, so polite and advised us of local walks around the grounds. Lovely bar area, outside seating. Staff were all very helpful. We will return !

Attended afternoon tea within a spa package for a hen party of 7. Matthew our server was lovely, polite and attentive. The afternoon tea was gorgeous and generous servings. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous

Fabulous night away at this stunning venue. My husband & friend enjoyed a round of golf. Whilst the ladies enjoyed the patio in the sunshine. Evening meal was delicious. Pool was modern and clean. All area were well maintained. Most importantly was the fantastic service throughout. All staff were helpful and friendly. Big shout out to our evening waiter Jamie. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel, the food was fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful especially Charlie in the restaurant.

Went away as a last night away as a couple before wedding. Lovely chilled afternoon with lovely food. Our waiter Karol was great and very polite and helpful.

Yes, every player must have their own set of golf clubs.

Are kids allowed on the golf course?

Yes, children are welcome to play golf on either of our golf courses. However, our pro-shop reserve the right to restrict play depending on the age and skill of the child. An adult may be required to accompany under 16s. Full golf attire is required for any golfer wishing to play the courses.
