Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

Lovely hotel
We’ve visited Slaley before, and always enjoy our time here. Hotel is very nice, rooms clean, spacious etc. Food is very good. Staff polite, professional.
Flawless luxury ❤️
I will definitely be back 😊Can't fault it. I attended a fundraising event in June 2026 and from the moment I checked in at 3pm to the moment I checked out at 11am the next day- the whole experience was flawless. The staff make this experience (Andy and Jack in the bar are the best). The day i was here, there was a heatwave and a stray dog showed up to the bar. The care for this animal was incredible (to the point that one of the staff members took her home to try and reunite her with the owner).
Great three night break with three rounds of golf
Excellent location Excellent golf Exceptional room and facilities Excellent food, slightly limited menu Wonderful staff in all departments
Beautiful location and hotel
Had a fabulous three night stay last week. I had spa treatments booked in on the first afternoon and was able to spend some time relaxing by the pool beforehand. Treatments were amazing and Georgina who did them was lovely. All staff from reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping were all very polite, friendly and helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel grounds are stunning and it was lovely to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views. When it was too hot to sit outside there were plenty of beautiful rooms to enjoy outside of the bar areas. A very memorable stay, thank you
Golf Holiday
We enjoyed our stay, the staff and food were very enjoyable. We played both courses, in decent condition. I would book a buggy the next time. Its a long walk.
Excellent customer service
We have visited this hotel several times both as a couple and as a family. We have never had a bad experience but wish to say thank you to the customer service staff who went out of their way this time to accommodate our child's room preference ( they loved last year's room!) . The pool as ever was a great experience. Thank you
Great stay
Our visit was a birthday treat involving golf and dinner with some friends who also stayed over. The reception staff on check in were fabulous, friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded because it was a birthday celebration which was a really nice gesture and as it turns out, typical of the staff in general. The room turned out to be splendid. Our first night dinner with our friends was delicious, not overly expensive, but there was a good choice and sensible portions. Breakfast was average hotel buffet fare and was good overall, apart from the coffee which was not good. Dinner on the second evening was just as nice and again the restaurant staff were just great. We would definitely stay here again as the experience was so good. Thanks Slaley and staff.
An excellent base for a short break
A short break for me and my sister in this first class hotel, beautiful quiet surroundings, lovely food excellent service. The air con in the bedroom was especially welcome during such hot conditions. There are lovely walks around the grounds and its a good base for seeing the surrounding area.
Breakaway members
Lovely hotel and staff, rooms very dated, air con was useless, lowest temperature it got to was 26 degrees, breakfast service needs attention, coffee machines were all out of order every day, tables were not cleared, we stopped going to breakfast after a few days.
Wonderful
What a truly lovely place me and my girlfriend went for afternoon tea.and were very well looked after by Katie who was smiling happy and engaging. nothing was too much trouble. even when we decided to go for a walk of the grounds of the hotel and needed to store our bags. we then decided to have some cocktails in the deck chairs over looking the golf course. we had a nice girl bring out our drinks as we chatted and just sat there. thank you again for a truly lovely experience kind regards
First class mid week golf break
2 x 4 balls on a 2 night 2 round DBB package and everything was excellent - the restaurant food , service , the rooms and the pace of play on two excellent course
Golf trip
We recently stayed as a group of 7, 2 nights and 3 rounds of golf. The food, service, hotel and golf were brilliant. The only disappointment was how our food allowance was managed. Despite asking for the bill to be split across the 7, the person in the single room ended up with the biggest bill, when we asked for an explanation the receptionist seemed to lose patience and the bill is ridiculously complicated. We would return again.
Spa break
Beautiful place was so relaxing We have had a lovely time there All the staff were very helpful and friendly The massage was amazing Evening meal was very good and a full breakfast
Great place
A nice hotel which we been too many times clean rooms with a fridge (great in this heatwave) nice clean & tidy gym nice safe car parking area and GREAT staff
Relaxing stay
Lovely stay in a beautiful location. All staff were friendly and no request was a problem. Room was of a good size and very clean and had everything we required. Food was good but could do with a change in the specials for people stopping more than one night. Overall a very relaxing stay at a reasonable cost.
Absolutely fabulous
Excellent hotel. We go once a year and can never fault it. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is just right. Rooms are fantastic. Swimming pool etc is great. Lots to do around the grounds. The walks around the grounds need updating and making more visible. Some parts were overgrown. But still a superb place.
A Perfect Birthday Stay at Slaley Hall
We visited Slaley Hall for my partner’s birthday and had a lovely stay. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, the spa was relaxing, and both the afternoon tea and evening meal were excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish. It was the perfect place for a birthday celebration and a relaxing night away. We would definitely recommend Slaley Hall and would happily return.
Excellent stay
We had two great days of golf at Slalley Hall. We played both courses in brilliant sunshine and appreciated the buggies we booked. The food and drinks were excellent and the staff both attentive and friendly. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and relaxing with air conditioning. We also enjoyed the spa and enjoyed walking around the grounds. It was a lovely stay. On the morning we left, we visited Vindalanda and found it very interesting.
60th Birthday Golf Jolly
All staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. From the minute we arrived, receptionists, bar staff, pro shop and restaurant staff were amazing and made our stay more enjoyable Both courses were in excellent condition despite the hot weather Well worth another visit, would recommend getting buggies as it’s a long walk in lovely countryside.
