Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

The Hadrian’s Brasserie restaurant in Slaley Hall
The staff in Hadrian’s Brasserie is very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu, the waiter called Lewis Walls was especially diligent to go the extra mile and tend for our requests, and the food was beautiful. Great work Slaley Hall, keep it up! 👍

Overall a Lovely Stay
We stayed as part of a overnight package which included a standard room, £35/person towards our meal (excluding drinks), breakfast, spa access and a 25 minute treatment. There were many positves: - Staff were extrememly polite and friendly throughout. - Spa treatments were relaxing and exactly as we hoped. - The relaxation room was calm and tranquil. - Our room was spacious and clean. - Breakfast was superb - lots or choice. - Food at the restaurant was delicious and high quality. The service was also excellent. Charlie C, took good care of us and made sure he regulalry checked in at our table. - Beautiful grounds and building. Be aware: Outside of the treatment rooms, the spa facilities are essentially a pool area with the addition of a small sauna and steam room and jacuzzi. As access is available to children / the public, rather than just spa guests, it had more of a hotel pool feel which may not be what some people would expect if looking for a tranquil spa experience. Somewhere to relax was harder to find due to the good old Brit abroad tactics of claiming loungers with a towel - we had to settle for a seat at the side. Non of this, impacted our visit, but I can understand that for some, it would.
Getting Married at Slaley Hall
My wife Gloria & I just wanted to say a HUGE! Thank you to our wedding organiser and manager at Slaley - Beth & Bethan, they were so supportive and really great at helping to plan and organise everything! Also a shout out to all of the staff: House keeping, Bar, Restaurant, Spa & last but absolutely not least Reception, we are so grateful for all the effort and help! The Kitchen also deserves so much praise, I never had a bite of food the whole time over multiple days that I didn’t find absolutely delicious! Everyone was so wonderful and happy and we had such an amazing day, we will be remembering it for the rest of our lives and that is thanks to everyone at Slaley Hall!  We look forward to coming back every year for a good long spa trip for our anniversaries!

Good food and even better service
Really enjoyed my food at the restaurant. We were served by Samuel who was lovely and recommended a fabulous stuffed chicken for my main.
Relaxing break
Lovely location- not a lot close by but nice for a one night relaxing stay. Pool was very busy once we had checked in (Check in queue was quite long so get there early to make the most of your time!) ended up going to the pool after dinner instead which worked perfectly for us and was lovely and relaxing. Room was really spacious (Superior King) and overlooked the golf course. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and lots of choice/ healthy options- very good value for money

Nice stay but needs improving
Overall a good stay. Nice hotel in a nice setting. After check-in we went straight down to the pool. It's a nice area but felt cramped. There's not much space around the pool area and a lot of people, including us, left with just chairs and having to tuck in when people walk past. The jacuzzi is tiny. My wife and I joined a woman in there and I didnt feel comfortable as a 6ft2 male getting in and landing my size 11 feet in the tiny bottom of it. Evening meal was disappointing. I had the "duck breast", which at £26.50 I expected a whole duck breast. What I got was two double stacked fish finger sized pieces (pictured). Where the rest of the breast goes I don't know. The food was room temperature and evidently been sat a while. At 2am in the morning a couple were having a domestic in a room down the corridor. The male party had at some point ended up outside and was banging on all the windows along our row shouting his partners name. It then continued inside again. Not the hotels fault, but is there no night staff that would have picked upon the activity going on, especially as part of it was going on just outside the hotel entrance? Breakfast is buffet style and I couldn't fault it 👌🏻. We did the quad biking across the way which I highly recommend and was the best part of our stay. Great staff and a superb experience!
