Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.   Â

Outstanding dining experience, made all the more memorable by my server Karol. Had steak, red wine, cheese. Provided faultless service politely. Reckoned the customer service at this place.
Great but a few areas to improve
The Friday Foodie has checked in — and when I say checked in, I mean properly put Slaley Hall through its paces. For those who don’t know, I don’t just visit places — I assess them. Service, setting, atmosphere, the little touches most people miss… all under the spotlight. If it’s worth your time and money, I’ll tell you. If it’s not, I’ll tell you even quicker. This time, it was Slaley Hall’s turn.Just back from a fantastic stay at Slaley Hall and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the service was spot on — friendly, attentive, and nothing felt like too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and exactly what you want after a day out. The pool area is a real highlight — well maintained and a great place for kids — and the bar areas are excellent. I especially loved the panelled seating areas where you can sit back with a drink; they’ve got a really cosy, premium feel to them. There’s plenty to do on site too — the games room is a great touch and adds something extra, especially if you’re staying more than one night. All in all, a brilliant stay with a great mix of comfort, atmosphere, and facilities. Will definitely be back. So im giving 4 stars. To get 5 we need three things to improve. Firstly breakfast shortages - i mean who wants a breakfast with no beans ? Both days numerous items missing. Not good enough. Secondly the room was not ready. It was for me, my wife and daughter. Sofa bed not ready, only 2 towels. Thirdly kids swimming starts at 4pm. Making a long line of adults and impatient kids que until 4pm on the dot is annoying and causes a rush when everyone piles into the changing rooms. The Friday Foodie will be back and we will see how you get on next time.
Golf break we will return
Stayed at Slaley Hall for 2 night golf break. Can't recommend it enough. Facilities , Room and Golf top notch. Restaurant was delicious. In our group we had a vegan and a siliac. All food was delicious. Special thank you to Ana in Restaurant and Cate on reception.
A top value chill out break!
Spotted Slaley Hall on a two day spa deal and loved the fact that it was relatively close by for us in the Borders. It is very good value. Two nights DBB with two spa treatments each for hubby and I. Brekkie was fresh and dinner was first class. Also noted that most spa's are £8 for a glass of prosecco but only £5.75 here and it was a lovely brand too! Matthew served us in the restuarant and he could not have been more attentive and helpful. What a credit to the place he is. Overall a cheery place with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of space to sit if you just want to chill out. We will definitely be back : )
Overnight stay
A lovely hotel and spa. Had a lovely meal at the restaurant, Matthew provided brilliant service.
Anniversary Break
The location is very isolated but the surrounding countryside is fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable with lovely comfy seats to relax on. A fridge is provided and the beds are very comfortable. It would have been preferable to have a smart TV in the room. The room was very clean and the bathroom had ample storage with a countertop sink.
Stayed before and will again.
Visited for my daughters 7th birthday. Traveled as a solo Mum with 2 young children. Great price. Excellent facilities. Staff are lovely. Stayed here previously and would again.
Daniel coom
Daniel coom was a very pleasant and friendly server in the restaurant. April 8th 2026 Thank you Daniel

I had a very pleasant break here for 3 nights over Easter 2026. Location is great. Atmosphere in hotel is good and plenty of places to chill in nice rooms. The gym, sauna, steam room and pool were very nice and clean. Food was nice in the restaurant, where I was served by both Charlie and Daniel C, who did a good job.
Nice stay
Nice meal in the restaurant, new menu and the crab and ravioli was lovely. Great service from Charlie
3dat spa break
This was a lovely 3 day break, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful at all times. The spa is great, initially my spa appointment was cancelled due to staff shortages but they went above and beyond to rebook me the same day, the treatment was really relaxing. Charlie was our server at the restaurant, he was attentive and provided excellent service, food was very good.
