Explore our Slaley Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Our two 18-hole Hexham golf courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and Asian Tour events.

Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, with its own version of Amen Corner. Meanwhile, the more forgiving but equally as addictive Priestman Course offers wonderful panoramic views of the Tyne Valley from the tee box. Afterwards, dissect where it all went wrong (or right) over a bite to eat or tipple in the Claret Jug clubhouse or the outdoor terrace overlooking the action on the 18th.

Course information

Often nicknamed, 'The Augusta of the North', Hunting is a treasure of a Northumberland golf course, magnificently maintained and host to several flagship events.

Don't be lulled by the undulating fairways, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard, multi championship hosted course a real challenge.

Set on higher ground, this Neil Coles designed golf course gives panoramic views of the Tyne Valley and beyond.

Wind can be a factor on this 6,901 yard undulating course, criss-crossed by streams. But don't be put off, this is a classic course and suitable for all levels of golfer.

Perfect for couples

Location is stunning, perfect parking, room was lovely and bed very comfortable and room also very clean. Noise level some noise of doors slamming during the night but obviously not hotels fault. Did arrive for 3pm check in and our room wasn't ready which was disappointing, and told to come back in an hour or so but we did get access to spa but we both had our overnight bags to lump around with us - but spa and swimming pool were fab

Relaxing break

Great hotel and spa. Evening meal was excellent. Served by Jamie R who was attentive. Would definitely go back again.

Lovely stay at slaley, our meal was brilliant and the service we received from Sebastian was fantastic! Very friendly and attentive. Such a great time, would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed it. The food was a bit cold apart from the last day when it was served fresh. Disappointed with the pool full of babies and mothers.

Fantastic service

Stayed at Slayley for the weekend, last minute plans to eat with a party of 8, Morgan B sorted a table straight away even on a busy Saturday night and catered to our needs, brilliant service, lovely meal and nothing was a problem, thank you!

Lovely food, service was amazing, our server Morgan Buzzeo was absolutely brilliant, very attentive 10/10.

Amazing experience

What an amazing experience, it was a busy evening but Morgan B squeezed out party of 8 in. We were all paying separate but that wasn’t a problem, Morgan B set it all up and each bill was perfect at the end. He kept us all in drinks, food order taken and was spot on, even with tweaks made for each order. Food was delicious, quick and hot. Amazing customer service from Morgan B

Fantastic hotel the staff were so lovely ,polite and helpful . Had a great time on the restaraunt bar and Spa . Sebastian served our dinner he was fabulous . Had a facial and massage top quality will definitely stay again. Fantastic dinner,breakfast and light lunch

We had a lovely relaxing time at Slayley Hall. Though felt our room was basic and tired. The spa area was very nice, another or larger jacuzzi pool wouldn't go wrong. The restaurant menu, was ok, though a change would have been good. The staff were excellent, very attentive in all areas of the hotel. We'll be back...maybe in an upgraded room.

Honest review

Just returned from an overnight stay at Slaley Hall and I have no complaints whatsoever. The staff were excellent, room was spotless and the food was perfect for my taste. The pool area was well looked after and plenty of loungers and seats for guests. My one criticism, and this is only my personal view, there should be more than one cubicle in the ladies changing room. I don't like getting changed in front of other people but it did not spoil my experience. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable

Nice relaxing stay over

Nice relaxing stay over. We had a great experience, every single member of staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Spa experience was lovely - the relaxation room is a great chill space and my therapist, Matilda was amazing. Evening meal in the restaurant was very nice and our waiter Daniel C gave great service. Rooms perfectly clean and adequate for a short stay. Main negative if any was the pool - it’s a big dated and jacuzzi was quite small and full all the time. The bubble pool could be better utilised as a second jacuzzi

Slaley Hall

My wife and I recently visited Slaley Hall and had a brilliant experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was lovely, the setting is beautiful, and everything felt really relaxed and welcoming. It made for a really enjoyable visit and we both left saying we’d definitely come back again. A special mention has to go to our waitress, Abby. She was absolutely fantastic throughout the evening—really friendly, attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. She made sure everything was perfect and genuinely helped make the experience even better for us. Great service like that really stands out, Thanks again to the team at Slaley Hall for a great time!

We stayed overnight at Slayley Hall. The room was pristine and good value for money. We ate in the restaurant was excellent, both in terms of service and quality of food.

Yes, every player must have their own set of golf clubs.

Are kids allowed on the golf course?

Yes, children are welcome to play golf on either of our golf courses. However, our pro-shop reserve the right to restrict play depending on the age and skill of the child. An adult may be required to accompany under 16s. Full golf attire is required for any golfer wishing to play the courses.
